About RIKEN

Research areas and centers

In order to achieve its missions, RIKEN conducts research activities on advanced science at its seven research institutes and centers at Wako, Tsukuba, Harima, Yokohama, Kobe, Sendai and Nagoya, as well as in the USA and the UK. In addition to cooperating among its own research institutes and centers, RIKEN pursues its projects by actively collaborating and communicating with other research organizations and scientists inside and outside Japan, creating pioneering research areas and engaging in research which helps to solve the problems affecting the international community.
