The feature of the Program for Drug Discovery andMedical Technology Platforms (DMP) is that a management team is organized based on the process of drug discovery research. The drug discovery process consists of a wide range of elements, from upstream research and development to bridging clinical trials, including identification of drug discovery targets, assay system construction, screening system construction, screening implementation, seed compound identification, seed antibody identification, pharmacological test, pharmacokinetic test, safety test, etc., and specialized personnel are required in each scene.
More importantly, we will help you find new modalities (drug discovery technology) which may change the paradigm of drug discovery and establish them as versatile technologies.
Therefore, DMP has diverse human resources who can manage drug discovery research. Briefly, we have a portfolio manager with research experience in organic synthesis, molecular biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, cell, and regenerative medicine. These diverse portfolio managers work together and support the leaders of different themes in initiating research plans and implement them.
Riken's Life Science Research Center is equipped with various drug discovery infrastructure units, and in cooperation with theme leaders, a cross-functional team will be established to promote R&D. In addition, clinical development managers specializing in pharmacological studies, pharmacokinetic tests, safety tests, and clinical research participate in the bridging stage for clinical trials.
In addition, the management team of the Drug Discovery and Medical Technology Infrastructure Program plans, drafts, advises, investigates related research (investigations of advanced technologies and patents) proposed by theme leaders, supports research funds, confirms the research stage, etc. By developing such matrix management, we have realized a system that can promote themes and projects related to drug discovery and medical technology with a competitive advantage.
Composition of management team
The Management Team consists of a portfolio manager with extensive R&D experience at a pharmaceutical company, a manager in clinical development, and a manager with experience in business development who worked under the program director who has experience as the head of research and executive officer at a biopharmaceutical company.
