E.   An Image Fragment Approach for the Characterization         of Inferotemporal Neurons.
Michel Vidal-Naquet, Shimon Ullman

Q: how to characterize IT neurons ?
A: 3 steps:

1) Experiment: Measure IT Neuron responses:
      Single cell acute recordings
2) Computational Work: Neuron model =
Image Fragment Model response computed by non-linear correlation techniques
3) Find best fragment with an extensive search through a large set of fragments (~100,000) to
find the image fragment that best explains the neural response.

Q: Does the method work well ?
A: Work in progress: developing the algorithm, in particular the non-linear correlation techniques.  However, successfully tested in pilot V1 experiments.
