  • In 63% of neuron pairs, there was a single significant broad peak in cross-correlogram of spike trains (Upper  panel).

  • A TE neuron has two activity states: neuron fires at one state and does not fire at the other state, and a peak in cross-correlogram reflects synchronous state transition of two neurons.

  • Synchronous activities of a pair were modulated by stimulus presentation (Lower panel).

  • - Increased when both neurons  responded to the stimulus (œ)
     - Decreased when both neurons did not respond to the stimulus (x)
