Q1: I am a JRA. If I attend, will the two days of Summer School be counted as working days?

A1: Yes, for JRAs and RSRs the two days will be counted as working days.

Q2: How much money will I need to pay out of my own pocket?

A2: We will be asking you to contribute 1,500 yen as part of the food expenses.

Q3: Are there any stores near the venue?

A3: There is a small convenience store near the venue but not too many restaurants.

Q4: I require a special diet. What should I do?

A4: Give information on any special dietary needs you may have in the registration form. We will try our best to accommodate your request but may not be able to meet all the requests. Should you feel more comfortable to prepare your own meal, please let us know at summerschool@ml.riken.jp.

Q5: Does my lab have to pay for my travel expenses from the lab's budget?

A5: No. The Summer School is funded by our budget, so your lab does not have to pay for your travel.

Q6: What is the poster draft used for?

A6: The “outline of poster presentation” and “poster draft” will be used as selection material for the poster prizes, and will be sent to poster screeners. Although this is a closed event and we will prohibit photography on site (excl. PR photos), due to the limited number of staff, we cannot guarantee that your poster will not be photographed. Please be sure to let your lab head know of these conditions beforehand, and prepare an appropriate draft.

Q7: Do I need to bring my RIKEN ID card?

A7: If you are joining the optional tour to Fugaku or BDR Center, please bring your RIKEN ID card. If not, you don't need to bring it.

Q8: Is photography allowed at the venue? I'm concerned the contents of my poster will be photographed.

A8: Photography is strictly prohibited on site (excl. PR photos taken by RSS staff). Should you have any concerns on site, please let any of the staff know.
