"Microscopic Theory of Electronic Nematic Phase in Ruthenates"
It was proposed that the electronic nematic phase characterized by broken rotational symmetry is responsible for the metamagnetic transitions and anistropic transport observed in Sr3Ru2O7. In this talk, I will first review recent experimental and theoretical developments on the bilayer ruthenates and the nature of nematic phase. I will then present a microscopic mechanism of the electronic nematic order, and discuss other competing instabilities.
