DNA minicircles as novel scaffolds - Recently nanotechnology has developed dramatically. However, it is not practical to use current top-down methods to array 3-dimensional nanostructures. DNA minicircles could overcome this problem because of their ability to self-assemble. DNA minicircles are small circular DNA (about 20nm in diameter) constructed from several oligonucleotides (ssDNA). We can modify the DNA minicircles by using well-documented synthetic chemistry techniques. The modified DNA minicircles can then be used as a circular scaffold to create designer nanostructures.
