[Summary of Research]

Computational simulation of protein dynamics using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and normal mode analysis. Construction of physical models for simplifying complex protein motions simulated by atomistic MD and measured using neutron scattering. These models include a “coupled normal-mode model” applied to the analysis of vibrational energy transfer in myoglobin molecule, an analysis relating time-dependent vibrational motions to diffusive motions, and a “Langevin dynamics model”, which was shown to reproduce experimental neutron dynamic structure factors and has been applied to understand temperature-dependent protein dynamics, e.g. glass-transition phenomena. Coarse-grained MD force field calculation, “REACH”, which is a direct mapping method of an atomistic force field onto a coarse-grained model.
